The I am for Peace campaign was launched at the Malacañan Palace last Friday morning. Among the celebrities who were invited to be ambassadors for the said campaign were Anne Curtis, Gerald Anderson, and the Azkals. Here are some photos taken from the event:
The I Choose Peace Program is a project born from the partnership of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process and the Philippine Football Federation (PFF). With the help of the members of the Philippine Azkals, a sports and learning program will help bring the message and importance of peace to the youth through football.
Starting the observance of the 9th National Peace Consciousness Month with the theme “Ako. Ikaw. Tayo. Magkakaiba, Nagkakaisa sa Kapayapaan,” the Azkals kicked off the month-long celebrations with 1Goal for Peace last September 2 where they shared their skills. 1Goal for Peace was held at the PhilSports Complex where over 500 kids attended the peace fair and about 100 kids from diverse backgrounds met the players and learned the basics of the sport.
The government, PFF and the Azkals all agree that through football, values important to peace building such as discipline, respect, teamwork and equality will be taught to Filipino children. As the kids learn to commit to football, they also learn to choose peace.
The National Peace Ambassadors is a group composed of distinguished individuals from the arts, cinema, music, sports and social media. They have been selected as advocates of peace who will work at macro and micro levels in raising public awareness on peace and the peace process. With their help, more Filipinos are expected to gain interest in on the on-going peace issues and become more active in peace building.
